How Chief Chingaira defeated Cecil John Rhodes’ Army at Makoni

“Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed l about the body of Moses, durst m not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.” Jude 1:9-10 KJV

This statement or verse begs the question why was the devil fighting for the body of Moses? The answer is very simple in the spiritual world there is power in the body and whoever possessed the body can harness the power of that person.

Chief Makoni Chingaira is celebrated in Zimbabwe as one of the fiercest warriors to have confronted the British settlers. To defend his territory from foreign invaders who wanted to take the wealth of his nation he fought back. Historical accounts tell the facts that Chingaira stood his ground and fought to preserve African sovereignty and economic liberty to the people of present day Zimbabwe.
Chief Chingaira has been labelled as; mighty man of valour. Some historical texts claim that in the battle of Makoni, Cecil John Rhodes suffered one of his biggest defeats in his quest to rule from Cape to Cairo. Rhodes underestimated the strength of the Makoni army. The Makoni army under legendary Chief Chingaira. Rhodes came face to face with the illustrious Makoni army and Rhodes met his Waterloo and suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Chingaira. The British invading army were utterly crushed and suffered huge casualties under Chingaira an estimated 10-30% of the army. Oral tradition says maybe even up to 50% of the British invading army.

Rhodes then swore revenge on Chingaira. He could not find Chingaira as the British could not find him. Chingaira hid in a cave strategizing on when to strike the British invaders. A weak minded cousin of Chingaira who had been promised trinkets gave up the intelligence on Chingaira. The British army surrounded the cave where Chingaira had been staying. They bombarded the cave and Chingaira was killed. The cousin of Chingaira who had been part of Rhodes’ divide and conquer was never given the chieftainship or given land. Instead Chingaira’s cousin had his fertile land taken from him and the thanks he got from the British was being moved into reserves with rocky stony ground unsuitable for cultivating land. The Makoni were subjugated to a life of second class citizenship in their own land.

Cecil John Rhodes then took off the head of Chingaira and shipped it to England. It is not known where exactly the head of Chief Chingaira is being kept by the British government. The museum, in South Kensington, London, has around 20,000 items in its human remains section. This is where Zimbabweans believe the head of their Chief Makoni Chingaira is being housed and have requested that the head be sent back to Zimbabwe for proper burial. The British government has refused to hand over this national treasure. It is known that the sun never set on the British empire because they used decapitated human heads as part of colonial spiritual conquests. The British performed rituals where they harbored the power in the heads of the ruling class that allowed them to rule over the lands of the chiefs whose heads they possessed.
