Kenya Defends Ukraine But Silent About Ukrainians Blocking Africans From Safety #AfricansInUkraine

When news of the Russo-Ukraine war broke out the Kenyan ambassador to the UN compared the Russian invasion to colonialism. The top Kenyan diplomat holds a doctorate in war studies from King’s College London, as well as an undergraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire. A very smart man indeed. While he advocates for Ukrainian lives, he is silent about the plight of his own people his fellow Africans who cannot escape racism white supremacy in Ukraine. Why are African leaders silent about the discrimination in Ukraine when Africa is standing with Ukraine?

Millennial Africans and Gen Z Africans were upset that the ambassador was silent about the #AfricansInUkraine. The plight of Africans stuck in Ukraine and facing discrimination when it comes to transportation out of Ukraine to safety. Africans are showing solidarity against Putin’s aggression while calling out anti-blackness in Ukraine and Poland.

“While Africans are praying for Ukrainian people there are reports that Ukrainians are blocking Africans from trying to flee and allowing them to basically freeze to death at the border. We believe in Ubuntu and them in discriminating against African and Black people.”

Here is other video footage of the events as they unfold in Ukraine.

“AfricansinUkraine the community of Africans in Ukraine stranded at the boarder many of them women and children. According to the video footage coming out to Ukraine “The lady in the video is holding a 2 month old and it’s 3°c outside they are in search of aid and hostels as they have been displaced by the conflict.”

Another Twitter user explained the following:

“Watch how they are threatening to shoot us! We are currently at the Ukraine -Poland border. Their Police and Army refused to let Africans cross they only allow Ukrainian. Some have slept here for 2 days under this scorching cold weather, while many have gone back to Kyiv.
